Naturally Pink

I love it when food photographers dare to use flash and it works.

I always start fantasizing about the perfect cake a few weeks before my birthday. My fantasies always involve raspberry, cream cheese, chocolate and on occasion lemon. Maybe this year I'll actually make it. The recipe for the raspberry cake in the picture is from the kitchn.

Lovely Sofas

I found out about B&T design through a friend who designed their website. I wish I could have one of their sofas shipped to New York without breaking the bank! The irony is that they are based in Istanbul and have a store in my parents' neighborhood.

My favorite of the bunch... finally a sofa that I can take apart and create clutter out of, in addition to creating clutter around and on. It comes in different colors too, made to order.

These coffee tables, which can be brought together to create a bigger surface, don't go with any of our furniture at home but I think they're so clever.

Sheets By Bless - Come On, Dive In!

Sheets by Berlin and Paris based Bless via New York Times

These humorous sheets featured in the New York Times perfect for the summer heat.

Now think of similar sheets with a Martin Parr photo printed on them.

AJ Fosik's monster mask/icon/totems

Artist AJ Fosik's wood works straddle the line between 2D and 3D so playfully. Are they meant to be paintings, sculptures, masks or imaginary beasts captured and mounted on the wall like prize prey.

I saw his work for the first time yesterday and wish I could go to his show opening July 14 at the White Walls gallery in San Francisco.

You can see more images and read an inspiring interview with the artist at Fecal Face.

Interview Project

One of the latest projects that David Lynch is involved in, Interview Project is pretty straight forward. "A road trip where people have been found and interviewed" is how he describes it.

A new interview conducted with a random person is posted on the site every day. There are already 4 videos posted and Lynch himself introduces each one. As you can expect from the man who brought us Twin Peaks, Mulholland Drive and Inland Empire, the interviewees are all 'characters'. (Or the fact that they're being introduced by Lynch makes them seem that way!)

On a random note, the second guy, Tommie Holliday is wearing the first sunglasses I ever owned - it was the 80s; I was 8 and they were knock off Raybans! - so that makes me feel cool in an absurd, fangirl-ish way.

I'll definitely be checking the site often throughout the next for months.

Enjoy!
